Benefits

  1. As a member of OSA you will be joining other independent accountants across the state who share your professional concerns. You will become an integral part of a dynamic organization whose members enjoy a wide range of special services and opportunities. Your voice will be heard in decision-making processes that affect you and your profession in the state of Oklahoma. Your membership in OSA will provide you with benefits for you, your practice, and your profession.
  2.

  3. OSA offers many seminars that qualify for Continuing Professional Education credit, necessary to professionals (such as CPAs and EAs) who need CPE credits to maintain their certified status. These classes are offered at both the chapter level and statewide, and are given by highly-qualified instructors on pertinent and challenging topics. The high quality and low cost of our education is often enough in itself to make up the price of membership. Many of these classes are available at no extra charge; others are given at extremely competitive, discounted rates. (Note: all educational programs meet the requirements of the Oklahoma State Board of Accountancy and the IRS as programs which qualify for credit under continuing education.)
  4.

  5. The Register is published bimonthly and distributed free of charge to all OSA members. Its purpose is to keep our members informed about relevant news, including modifications to the tax code, important court decisions, and Oklahoma legislative information as it applies to the accounting profession.
  6.

  7. Networking is one of the keys to success for anyone, but especially for professionals. At chapter meetings and our annual conventions, you have the opportunity to meet other tax and accounting professionals, make and get referrals, share tips and experiences, and receive input on particular problems. District meetings provide one-on-one networking with other professionals, group interaction, and member camaraderie.Local chapters hold periodic meetings, many of which feature guest speakers. A wide range of topics and issues are discussed. An integral part of each meeting is devoted to an informal round-table discussion, allowing for an exchange of information vital to professional growth. One hour of CPE credit generally is given for attending these educational meetings.
  8.

  9. Representation at the state legislative level to defend the right to practice in Oklahoma. Most of our members are small, independent practitioners who do not work for large firms. We help these accounting and tax professionals continue to provide quality services to their clients. Because of this, a top priority is to protect the right of independent accountants to practice.
  10.

  11. We plan in the near future to expand our benefit program to include discounts on software and publications.
  12.

  13. National Representation. We are the Oklahoma Affiliate of the National Society of Accountants (NSA), founded in 1945. NSA has affiliates in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. It is a professional organization of more than 30,000 members nationwide who provide auditing, accounting, tax preparation, financial and estate planning, and management services to over 19 million businesses and individuals. Most NSA members are sole practitioners or partners in small or mid-sized firms.
  14.

  15. We are also a recognized liaison to state agencies, the Small Business Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service. We have representations on Capitol Hill through NSA.
